I have been a Guardian ad Litem with Family Advocates for 6 years. Before that, I was a Home Visitor until the program was canceled. I miss being able to interact with a family in a more positive way. I would rather be a cheerleader than an evaluator. I have only had 1 reunification out of 8 cases. Once the case is vacated, my relationship pretty much ends and I have become the parents’ enemy. I was part of the system that separated them from their kids. It is sad, really.
