How is your family mentee doing?
I was just recently assigned her. I have spoken to her once and have also talked to the mother-in-law she is living with
What are their needs?
She really wants to be on her own. She feels like her mother-in -law yells at her and her kids. She said there isn't anyone she feels comfortable leaving her kids with. She has two boys 1 year old and 4 months. She struggles with depression but doesn't like taking meds.
What skills do they need to develop?
She needs self-confidence and parenting skills. She wants to live on her own, but doesn't have her driver's license.
What changes are they trying to make?
She wants to be a better mother and role model than she had growing up.
What concerns do you have?
Mother in law is willing to help her but from Mackenzie's perspective the relationship isn't great.
What community resources/classes would be most beneficial to them?
It would be helpful for her to get know other young mothers her own age.
