How is your family mentee doing?
Money is a struggle. She has a 14-15 your old son in an institution in Coeur d’Alene and when she goes to visit them she has to put in gas and food money that she doesn’t have. They reimburse him but not until later and so she’s been struggling your old son in a institution in Coeur d’Alene and when she goes to visit them she has to put in gas and food money that she doesn’t have. They reimburse them but not until later and just for gas, so she’s been struggling for basic food and such this past month.
What are their needs?
She can only work part time because if she works full-time then she doesn’t get daycare help for her son. So she can only make a certain amount of money and they struggle with food when she hast to go out to visit her son in Coeur d’Alene. So they’ve been struggling for food & basics this month.
What skills do they need to develop?
Great skills. Good worker. I think she’s just a victim of the system because she would be happy to work more but then she ends up not getting the financial support for daycare.
What changes are they trying to make?
She has applied as early as possible for her son to have day care for the school year. When her son is in kindergarten, she will not need other daycare help and can work full-time. Just a few more months!
What concerns do you have?
I gave her a bunch of links to places to give out free food but it would be nice just to give them money to get them ahead. But I know not to do that. I did offer that I can find people that would love extra hours that she has to clean their houses or grocery shop for them. We will see if she takes me up on that. So far no
What community resources/classes would be most beneficial to them?
I really think she’s pretty sharp. I think she’s just a victim of the set up and needs help to watch her kids so she can work

How can we be a support to you?
We had a really good brainstorming on the phone of ways she could earn extra money because she’s so behind from going out to Coeur d’Alene. To see her older son. We’ll see if that helps out!
