Any children in the home?

How is your family mentee doing?

Beth and Luna have found refuge at Interfaith Sanctuary as Josh remains in Horseshoe Bend, where he walks to work. Despite facing homelessness, they hold onto their emotional support dog. Josh, diagnosed with 8 mental conditions, is pursuing Social Security disability with Beth's support.

What are their needs?

Their primary needs include securing stable housing, as well as finding better employment opportunities for Josh. The current work situation in Horseshoe Bend is financially challenging, with Josh earning only around $200 per paycheck. Addressing these needs will significantly contribute to their overall well-being.

What skills do they need to develop?

Josh may benefit from skill development in areas that align with his hands-on interests, considering his spectrum autism and Tourette’s syndrome, part-time is best for him for now. Exploring vocational training or jobs that accommodate his unique abilities could be valuable. Beth, being a full-time caregiver, might excel in roles related to online assistance or social services, leveraging her interpersonal skills and caregiving experience. Developing these skills can enhance their opportunities for employment and personal growth.

What changes are they trying to make?

They are currently navigating the challenge of living apart for Luna’s sake, a decision reflecting their commitment to her well-being. Despite the difficulty for Josh, he remains open to exploring different job opportunities. Beth is actively working on securing housing through CATCH Idaho and initiating the process for Josh to receive Social Security disability benefits for his diagnosed conditions. Their focus is on reunification and creating a stable environment for their family.

What concerns do you have?

My primary concerns revolve around Beth’s mobility challenges or limitations related to her health which impacts her mobility. Additionally, Josh’s signs of mental disability raise considerations for their overall ability to earn a decent wage. Despite these challenges, their dedication as loving parents and positive individuals is evident. Ensuring adequate support systems and access to resources for both physical and mental health concerns would be crucial in fostering a stable and nurturing environment for their family.

What community resources/classes would be most beneficial to them?

I find myself unsure about how to proceed. While I'm doing my best to assist them, I acknowledge that my expertise in accessing resources is limited. I greatly appreciate the support provided by Interfaith Sanctuary, as they have offered valuable suggestions, such as Catch Idaho and pursuing Social Security for Josh.

How can we be a support to you?

My experiences with this wonderful family are consistently positive. I could not pin point one experience because just being around Beth and Josh brings joy, and Luna is an absolute delight—truly amazing!
